Find of the Day: Magnolia Warbler

I was excited to find my first Magnolia Warbler today at the nature center in Jonesboro. Also found: a Grey Catbird. I also visited Craighead Forest where there’s plenty of baby Canada Geese right now. So cute!

American RobinOur first winter storm blew into Arkansas early Thursday afternoon keeping me at home this past weekend. I’m not complaining — I enjoyed it. Outside ice-covered everything and we had few visitors except for cardinals, a finch, an American Robin and dozens of White-Throated Sparrows.
White-Throated SparrowThe ACM Awards are playing, my dog Izzie is chewing on her duck at my feet, and my mom is cooking me chicken and rice while I read on the couch- I am loving my weekend at home.
I am spending the weekend-Thursday through tomorrow-in Arkansas to see family and attend the Arkansas Pro Chapter of Society of Professional Journalists’ annual conference. I have to admit it was a great conference, but more on that tomorrow. 🙂
I am off to read some more!

I previously worked as a news and sports photographer. Recently I have been enjoying wildlife photography. My approach toward bird photos is similar to sports photography. I attempt to capture mostly action and hopefully a unique perspective.
